What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructional Design and Training Specialist position at Goodwill Industries of Central Oklahoma?
JOB SUMMARY: This position will be responsible for designing and facilitating curricula through various delivery methods for training programs, courses, and job aids that support Goodwill employee development. This position is a member of the RISE team (Resources for Individual Success and Empowerment), which provides career coaching and training to Goodwill employees.
This is not a supervisory role.
Starting Pay: $60-62K per year Depending on experience
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Use instructional design principles to develop adult learning curricula and use a variety of delivery methods to craft inclusive, engaging learning experiences.
- Develop, coordinate, and facilitate training content for Cognition, the company’s Learning Management System (LMS) platform.
- Serve as an LMS administrator, supporting needs related to employee access, managing course content within the system, learning assignments, and other roles as needed.
- Stay informed of trends and technology in the education and/or corporate training industries to ensure the organization is implementing the best practices.
- Research credible sources while building current and relevant training content.
- Assist in developing training guides and visual aids for various departments across the company, including Donated Goods Retail and Human Resources.
- Collaborate with department leaders, key stakeholders, and subject matter experts to design and facilitate inclusive, learner-centered experiences, including instructor-led trainings; eLearning modules; multimedia content; and new employee onboarding.
- Work with internal and/or external subject matter experts to identify training needs and trends; complete training needs analyses; and develop and validate training content, methods, and materials for target audiences.
- Assist in developing and managing the Leadership Development Program for cohorts of organizational leaders and high potential employees.
- Assess learners to measure progress and evaluate effectiveness of learning experiences.
- Develop interactive content that consistently reflects Goodwill Central Oklahoma’s values, brand guidelines, and design elements.
- As assigned, lead, coordinate, and/or initiate projects that improve the efficiency of the RISE program.
- Assist with the planning and execution of team initiatives, such as program recruitment events, team development opportunities, and employee engagement efforts.
- Abide by and ensure compliance with agency policies and procedures set forth by management. Follow safety rules and regulations.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform other duties and projects as required by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field (Instructional Design, Education, etc.) or any combination of education/experience that provides the skills necessary to successfully perform the functions of this position.
- 2-5 years’ experience in a related field preferred
- Ability to write effective instructional text, including learning outcomes and assessments
- Ability to write inclusive, learner-centered curriculum for a diverse population of adults. This may include adults with limited literacy and/or English language proficiency, individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities, and adults with little to no exposure to digital skill development.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft office products. This includes creating and editing documents, collaborating using cloud-based platforms, utilizing online databases, and managing data in spreadsheets and digital storage.
- Familiarity with authoring and visual design tools, Adobe Suite products, and/or other media design software. Intermediate or advanced proficiency in Articulate 360 a plus.
- Must pass criminal background check and drug screening.
- Must pass MVR and have valid OK driver’s license and car insurance.
- Ability to speak, read, and write the English language.
- Reliable transportation and communication required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Works indoors in a climate-controlled environment most of the time.

- Requires some local travel to all company locations as necessary providing own transportation.

- Works 40 hours per week or more when required.
