COMPASS Inc. seeks an Alliance Services Coordinator to provide support and advocacy to all those affected by sexual violence and build a community network within the Alliance region. This is achieved by developing and maintaining collaborative relationships within the area, utilizing structured activities and strategies to engage the community, and developing appropriate coordinated community responses.
COMPASS, an affiliate of Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio, provides services to all survivors of rape and sexual abuse - women, children, men - and their loved ones in Carroll, Tuscarawas, and Stark Counties. Their programs include crisis intervention and advocacy, and education and prevention.
Essential Functions:
- Participate as a representative of COMPASS on community collaborations, task forces, etc.
- Provide outreach and education to area professionals and the community on available services and resources for survivors of sexual violence.
- Provide accompaniment and assistance to survivors and/or co-survivors (such as parents, custodians, legal guardians, and spouses) throughout the law enforcement and criminal justice process, including medical forensic exams.
- Provide referrals and ongoing follow-up for the victim.
- Assist with prevention education efforts as needed.
- Manage agency events and meetings. This includes the planning and implementation of SAAM events.
- Provide coverage on the 24-hour crisis hotline as needed. Provide advocacy and support to survivors through hospital advocacy, criminal justice advocacy, and/or office appointments and walk-ins.
- Complete all necessary documentation and reporting forms as required by the agency and funding sources.
- Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, practices, and safety/security regulations.
- Maintain client confidentiality of people served.
- Other duties as assigned.
SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Ability to perform basic computer functions including the use of the Internet, Microsoft Word, Outlook, and client database.
- Experience in working with victims of crime and/or sexual violence.
- Knowledgeable about the effects of sexual violence on the victim, the family, and the community.
- Exhibit concern for people in an effective way to gain their trust and confidence.
- Form opinions and make decisions based on knowledge, judgment, and experience.
- Empathize with the feelings of others and have a desire to be of help.
- Ability to gather and record data accurately.
- Organization and time management skills.
- Ability to perform a variety of tasks with frequent changes.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, or related field.
- Must have a valid driver's license and automobile insurance. Must regularly provide the agency with proof of valid automobile insurance. Employees who utilize an agency vehicle must submit to a BMV check.
- Ability to work with moderate supervision.
- Must be able to perform physical requirements of the position including but not limited to inside sedentary work. Frequent forward, horizontal reach at a desk and occasional stair climbing, stooping/bending, lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds, and walking approximately 60 feet. Occasional standing during court hearings and medical exams.
- General office equipment and phone system.
