General Purpose :
In this new and exciting position of Merchandise Coordinator you will bring your product and brand knowledge to Goodwill NYNJ’s in-store thrift experience. The ideal candidate will bring their expertise in designer brands in apparel, accessories, housewares, and collectibles to the selection and pricing of donated thrift goods. You will play a key role in driving revenue in Goodwill’s thrift stores and helping to fund our important Mission work.

You will be a key member of the retail store team and report to the Store Manager.
The Merchandise Coordinator will understand all functions of production, ensuring the efficient and effective flow of merchandise from the stockroom to the sales floor. You will act as a “Goodwill Ambassador” and be expected to role model Goodwill’s mission in all actions and interactions to create a positive customer-centric experience.
Essential Functions :
Price apparel in stores, implementing store specific pricing structure using Goodwill’s newly deployed Point of Sales system.
Print and tag price tickets on all textile racks, associating items with the processor or processing team that sorted / hung the items
Pre-print price labels for hard goods & accessories at the start of each shift
Quality review the pricing of processed hard goods & accessories completed by other members of the production team, before the items are placed on the sales floor
Participate in the quality review and manifesting of higher end or rarer goods identified for e-commerce
Complete tag reconciliation for price tickets that may be misprinted or discarded
Assist store manager and assistant store manager in training production associates on identifying quality donations
Engage in, maintain and support safety standards on sales floor and in the stockroom; communicate safety concerns to store leadership.
Be a team player to ensure all customers and donors, provided best in class customer or donor experience.
Adhere to all Goodwill and personnel policies and procedures; follow good safety and security practices including reporting safety hazards and injuries to the Store Manager.
Additional Duties :
Maintain keys to the store and supervise pre-opening / post-opening shifts for production staff providing them guidance and direction on pricing approach etc.
Assist with placing items from completed racks & carts on the sales floor
Picking / sorting for e-commerce
Assist store management with maintaining visual standards and shop-ability of the sales floor
Assist with in-store and window displays to create an experience that features quality product
Support, understand and adhere to Goodwill NYNJ visual and operational standards in order to maximize merchandise presentations when flowing product from the stockroom to the sales floor.
Qualifications : The following qualifications are required :
2-3 years of Retail experience and experience and knowledge of designer brands
Prior experience in thrift retail online or brick and mortar a plus!
High School Diploma, equivalent, associate degree preferred but not required
Skills Required :
Knowledge of brands, brand worth and trends in fashion and thrift
Ability to leverage social media and trends to influence merchandising
Basic computer and math literacy – Ability to use Point of Sales System
Attention to detail required.
Proven ability to drive and exceed individual and store results.
Strong communication skills
Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team.
Ability to receive feedback and take action when appropriate.
Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs which includes evenings, weekends and holidays.
Ability to handle multiple tasks while working in a fast‐paced and deadline‐oriented environment.
