Job Title: Security Guard

SUMMARY
The overall duty of a Security Guard is to protect the company’s property, employees, and visitors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties and locations may be assigned as needed.
- Monitor store activity inside and outside the building. Approach any customer or individual who may exhibit suspicious, disruptive, or threatening behavior.
- Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
- Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
- Answer alarms and investigate disturbances.
- Circulate among visitors, patrons, or employees to preserve order and protect the entire property (retail store, ecommerce, Mission offices, parking lot, etc.).
- Patrol industrial or commercial premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
- Answer telephone calls or respond to messages related to security questions and concerns.
- Warn persons of rule infractions or violations, and apprehend or evict violators from premises, using force when necessary. Trespass any person who takes Goodwill Hawaii property without paying, is disruptive to business and refuses to leave, or presents a direct threat to the safety of employees or customers. Call police when needed to assist in trespassing or apprehending suspected persons.
- Inspect and adjust security systems, equipment, or machinery to ensure operational use and to detect evidence of tampering.
- Inspect and monitor overall building maintenance for any vandalism or safety concerns. Work with Goodwill Hawaii Maintenance team on any issues found.
- When monitoring the entrance/exit, check for customer receipts as they exit to ensure all merchandise is accounted for as being purchased.
- Notify management if any suspicious behavior of employees including theft, time theft, malicious behavior or any other activity that is against company policy.
- Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent and/or training and experience that would demonstrate the ability to successfully perform requirements of position.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral,
or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS
Hawaii Security Guard Licensing. Goodwill will pay for license after successful completion of probation period.

The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the
work environment is usually loud.
Regular Attendance is a requirement of this position. This position operates Sunday – Saturday, 7 days a week, between 7:00 am – 7:00 pm and subject to change; must be flexible with scheduling. Occasional travel to other locations on Oahu may be required.
