Position Summary:

To become an effective leader in retail operations. Assist in overseeing the operations of all retail stores within an unassigned district, focusing on achieving key operational goals while fostering a culture of mission fulfillment. Receive hands-on experience in store management, team leadership, training, and development to become a fully qualified district manager.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Assist in leading, training, and coaching store leaders with the support of Human Resources (HR), Compliance, and Learning and Development (L&D) to meet GWH’s objectives and ensure the store leaders’ professional and personal development.

· Partner with other departments to gain experience in maximizing sales, donor value, sell-through, average transaction, and overall revenue.

• Assist in the training and managing of associates to ensure safe and efficient operations while promoting mission integration.

• Provides open and honest communication that encourages all associates to work safely and keeps themselves, customers, and donors out of harm's way.

• Understands and represents GWH’s zero-tolerance for discrimination, harassment, workplace violence, failure to report accidents/incidents, substance abuse, and theft or related offenses.

• Regularly visit retail locations to observe and support store leadership, provide guidance, and address performance and labor issues.

• Learn to proactively address and resolve conflicts related to the collection, production, distribution (external and internal), and sales process of donated goods.

• Gain experience in preparing and submitting store budgets, monitoring expenses, and analyzing reports to track performance and operational results.

• Ensures that accidents, incidents, near-miss, or property damage are reported timely according to GWH policies.

• Ensures cleanliness, orderliness, and the image of GWH stores and that all

safety, security, and housekeeping procedures are adhered to.

• Gain the understanding of how to assess trends, monitor progress on established goals by learning how to read and analyze POS reports (i.e., readings, cash reports, daily/monthly/yearly activity reports, transmittal of reports, daily deposits, comment cards, etc.).

· Gain knowledge of CARF standards and ways to ensure those are maintained.

• Keep abreast of product knowledge, industry trends, and competitive pricing through comparative competitors (e.g., full and discounted redtail, consignment, second-hand thrift, etc.).

• Assist and support safety programs and management efforts to lower accident rates and insurance costs.

• Assist in ensuring efficient, customer-friendly operations.

• May be required to participate in activities and training outside of GWH.

• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

· Must safely conduct work and report all accidents and/or injuries immediately.

· Effectively use computer applications, including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheets, GPS, Internet/Intranet, and other applications as determined appropriate by GWH.

· Understand and analyze financial statements, sales reports, and other reports required to operate a distribution operation successfully.

· Must be punctual and have dependable attendance.

· Adheres to local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

· A minimum of two (2) years of full-time employment in retail sales at a management level.

· Some experience in multi-unit management-level is preferred.

· A bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or a related field is preferred.

· Minimum five (5) years of work experience in lieu of degree.

· A background in retail sales with experience in merchandising, display, layout, and customer service is preferred.

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with all levels of the organization.

· Strong time-management skills and the ability to multi-task.

· Proven background in managing people, supervising work duties, and good people skills.

· Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule.

7. Budgeted Profit vs. Actual Profit (Actual vs. Budget)

8. Administration: Performance Management

9. Operations: GWH Internal Metric Score (for assigned locations)

10. Retention Rate (measured by new hire, 30-day, 90-day, and annual retention vs. LY and Annual Retention Rate vs. LY)

11. Safety: Adhere to Safety Practices and Processes and Safety Metric Scores (for assigned locations)

12. Customer Service (Internal and External)

13. GWH LMS Training Completion 95% or better

 

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

The ability to stand, twist, bend, squat, reach, kneel, push, and pull. Able to lift up to 40 lbs. and, occasionally, lift/move items up to 100 lbs. (e.g., large bags of donations, televisions, furniture, etc.) Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.

 

An indoor work environment with occasional exposure to outside temperatures. The noise level in the normal work environment is usually moderate.
