Position Summary:
Oversees the operations of the Houston Academy for Career Development, which offers programs in skilled trades, clean tech, and information technology. Plays a key role in program development, student recruitment, case management support, industry partnership, and overall program management to ensure the success of the students and the effectiveness of our programs.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Development and Management:
  • Assists with designing, developing, and implementing comprehensive programs in skilled trades, clean tech, and information technology (IT).
  • Establish program goals, objectives, and benchmarks to measure success.
  • Collaborate with industry experts, educators, and stakeholders to ensure program relevance and effectiveness.
Student Recruitment and Enrollment:
  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract diverse students.
  • Coordinate outreach efforts with schools, community organizations, and industry partners.
  • Manage the assessment and enrollment process, including application review and admission decisions.
Curriculum and Development and Instruction:
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop and update curriculum.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise instructors.
  • Monitor instructional delivery and proctor assessments and testing to ensure student engagement and skill acquisition.

      Student Support and Success:

  • Provide comprehensive support services to students, including career coaching and case management.
  • Implement retention strategies to support student persistence and success.
  • Monitor student progress and performance in Caseworthy and intervene as needed.
Industry Partnerships and Work-Based Learning:
  • Cultivate and maintain partnerships with local employers and industry associations
  • Coordinate apprenticeship and work-based learning opportunities for students
  • Organize hiring events and employer visits.
Data Management and Reporting:
  • Collect, analyze, and report on program data recorded in Caseworthy.
  • Collaborate with management to prepare regular reports and presentations for internal stakeholders and funders.
  • Utilize data to inform program improvements and strategic planning efforts.
Compliance and Accreditation
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Participate in program audits, reviews, and evaluations.
Marketing and Public Relations:

·Collaborate with marketing to develop marketing materials and communication strategies.

·Represent the academy at community events and industry meetings.

·Cultivate positive relationships with community stakeholders.

Continuous Improvement and Professional Development:
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices.
  • Seek out professional development opportunities.
  • Lead program reviews and strategic processes.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
 
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrates professionalism, and good judgment and presents a friendly, cooperative attitude.
  • Ability to multi-task, make quick decisions, adapt to change, and work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
  • Ensures all data reports, funding applications, and other administrative documents are reviewed and edited before submission for approval.
  • Adheres to all GWH Policies & Procedures, Loss Prevention & Safety Regulations, and GWH Guiding Principles.
  • Must be punctual and have dependable attendance and maintain an appropriate appearance.
  • Must safely conduct work, maintain good housekeeping standards, have all aisles and pathways to fire exits clear and free from clutter, and keep work areas neat and clean.
  • Adheres to local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
 
 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Master’s Degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in coordinating programs or a similar field.
  • Excellent computer skills (proficient in Microsoft Office).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a working knowledge of grammar usage, letter writing skills, and proofreading.
  • Familiarity with industry accreditation standards and compliance requirements is preferred.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proven problem-solving and critical thinking skills with the ability to get multi-sector stakeholders to work together.
  • Must maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Enthusiasm for the organization’s mission.
Key Performance Indicators (KPI):
  1. Ensure data utilization and accuracy of 90% or higher by conducting regular audits of CaseWorthy reporting.
  2. Coordinate hiring events for each graduation that offers career pathway(s).
  3. Ensure 100% assessment, enrollment, and placement goals are met following established KPIs.
  4. Ensure enrollments, case notes, and documents are updated within 24 hours of services or information received.
  5. Prepare weekly KPIs and monthly status reports for all programs.
  6. Execution of WFD Programs as assigned.
 
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, and reach.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, up to, 25 lbs.
