What are the responsibilities and job description for the Salvage Outlet Forklift Operator - Gary - FT position at Goodwill Industries Of Michiana Inc?
Job Objective:
To operate the forklift to move material as required and maintain the warehouse in an orderly and organized condition, under direction of Salvage Outlet Manager and Transportation Supervisor.
Essential Job Functions:
- Knows and understands the Goodwill Mission: Strengthen communities by empowering individuals and families through education, training and job placement.
- Move material as required using forklift or pallet jack.
- Load and unload trucks.
- Sort material as required for warehousing.
- Accurately prepare and process salvage materials for shipment.
- Maintain general good housekeeping and cleanliness of warehouse as required.
- Empty trash into compactor as needed.
- Follow the dress code and wear designated identification as provided.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisors.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to safely operate forklift, and pallet jack.
- Ability to read and write clearly.
- Ability to accurately weigh material.
- Must be well groomed and personable.
- Ability to make quick and accurate decisions.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.
- Ability to work in a light industrial area with significant dust.
