Job Summary

As a Merchandise Sorter, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient operation of our retail stores by processing donated goods, maintaining quality control, and contributing to a positive customer experience. You'll be responsible for sorting apparel and other hard goods into boutique, salable, and salvage categories to meet store inventory needs and maximize profitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Sort donated goods into appropriate categories, meeting daily and hourly processing goals.
• Ensure quality standards by inspecting items for stains, tears, odors, or damage.
• Stay updated on brand names, designer labels, vintage styles, and pricing trends.
• Maintain a clean and organized sorting area.
• Assist with pricing, tagging, and transporting apparel, as well as floor rotation when needed.
• Demonstrate Goodwill's core values, including teamwork, stewardship, and integrity.
• Follow safety and security procedures and report any hazards or incidents to management.

Qualifications

• Education & Experience: No specific education or experience required, but familiarity with brands and styles is a plus.
• Skills:
  • Ability to stand, bend, and reach during work hours.
  • Basic math skills to support inventory tracking.

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, and lift items up to 40 pounds, if not more. Assistance is available for heavier items.
• Specific vision abilities, including color vision and depth perception, are necessary for assessing item quality.
