Job Summary:
As a Sorter, you will be responsible for the careful and accurate sorting of donated apparel, shoes, and soft line goods into boutique, salable, and salvage categories. Your role directly impacts the quality and quantity of merchandise available in our stores, ultimately supporting our goal of maximizing profitability and increasing training opportunities for those we serve. This position operates under the direct supervision of the Store Manager or Plant Manager.
Key Responsibilities:

Deliver exceptional customer and donor service, ensuring 100% satisfaction.

Work collaboratively with team members, taking initiative without needing direction.

Stay informed about brand names, designer labels, and current fashion trends to properly assess the quality and value of donated items.

Sort apparel efficiently, meeting the target of processing quota, as laid out in the guiding principles.

Conduct quality control checks by identifying tears, stains, odors, broken zippers, and missing buttons.

Assist with pricing, tagging, and rotating merchandise onto the sales floor.

Maintain a clean and organized sorting and processing area at all times.

Adhere to all retail policies and safety procedures, reporting any hazards or injuries promptly.

Ensure all donations are processed within 24 hours, keeping the merchandise flow steady.
Qualifications:

Ability to stand, bend, and reach for extended periods.

Basic math skills for counting and processing items.

Reliable transportation.

A current, valid picture ID is required.
Physical Demands:
This role requires physical activity, including standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, and lifting up to 40 or more pounds. For heavier items, team assistance is available. Visual acuity, including close and distance vision, color perception, and depth perception, is necessary.
