POSITION SUMMARY
The Specialist – Participant Success Coach is responsible for assisting Goodwill Industries of San Antonio participants with fostering a healthy and positive approach to personal challenges by offering basic need assistance, case management, support, guidance, and coaching in areas such as personal relations, self-esteem, finances, public assistance, childcare, health, career, education/training, and personal success. The objective of this role is engagement with the participant is to remove barriers to success in completing Goodwill program(s) and achieving defined career training and employment goals. After a thorough assessment, a success coach and participant work to develop SMART goals and associated plan of action. Through this participant-lead process, the Specialist – Participant Success Coach challenges growth, provides support, expands possibilities, and empowers the participant to build resilience to achieve long-term success and contributes to the overall Goodwill mission to Help Change Lives through the Power of Work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Upholds and models Goodwill's mission, core values, and servant leadership philosophy.
- Oversee assigned caseload of participants from intake to goals completion.
- Conduct & interpret needs assessments for development of appropriate service plan.
- Assist clients in setting personal and career goals and developing action plans for success.
- Conduct short-term solution focused sessions to help participants move towards goal completion. Working with participants can span from a couple of weeks to months.
- Provide scheduled coaching to build resilience and enhance soft skills, life skills, and professional development skills.
- Provide appropriate referrals for community resources to address client needs (food, clothes housing etc.) and assist participants to link to those resources.
- Follow financial assistance agency policy, with the goal of helping participants with immediate basic needs.
- Document encounters with clients made either by phone, e-mail, or in person in the client management system.
- Gather and analyze measures for success of participants in achieving goals & overcoming personal barriers. Follow-up as needed.
- Coordinate closely with Career/Training and Job Placement Coaches, and the rest of the program staff to staff cases and form a comprehensive plan to ensure participants success.
- Follow-up on participants who may be disengaged or face challenges to success. Oversee the progress of life skills and other goals being met for clients.
- Assist with job search activities, job leads, and resume development, as necessary.
- Assist with career exploration, evaluation of training and education options, enrollment supports, and connection to financial aid resources.
- Assist with grant/contract related processes, as necessary.
- Demonstrate ethics and maintain confidentiality pertaining to caseload being served.
- Attend and participate in meetings of key stakeholders, and work collaboratively with others to achieve the Goodwill Mission.
- Responsible for providing excellent customer service by greeting, assisting, and responding to questions and/or concerns in a positive, professional, and friendly manner.
- Additional duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in social science, psychology, or a closely related field, supplemented by three (3) years’ experience as a professional coach, clinician, or related professions and working with diverse and non-traditional populations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LCP), or other related licenses a plus.
- Skilled in communicating verbally and writing effectively; skilled in organizing and presenting educational material.
- Experience in workforce development and community partnerships is preferred.
- Must maintain flexibility regarding work availability and hours to support program needs.
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position.
