POSITION SUMMARY:
To manage the activities of the Logistic and Salvage Department. The position provides logistical support for all salvage goods, transportation and donations; facilitates the receiving and processing overflow of donated goods and for maximizing the value of such goods and distribution; monitor and supervise the operation of forklift and other salvage equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned.
- Plan, organize, and manage the work of staff to ensure the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with organization and mission.
- Direct activities related to dispatching, routing, and/or tracking of all transportation vehicles.
- Monitor operations to ensure that staff members comply with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules, union contracts, environmental policies, or government regulations.
- Implement schedule or policy changes for transportation services.
- Monitor and control expenditures spending to ensure that expenses are consistent with approved budgets.
- Promote safe work activities by conducting safety audits, attending company safety meetings, or and meeting with individual staff members.
- Prepare management recommendations, such as proposed fee and tariff increases or schedule changes.
- Conduct investigations to verify and resolve customer or shipper complaints.
- Direct or coordinate the activities of operations department to obtain use of equipment, facilities, or human resources.
- Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports, or customer issues.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems or processes, such as customer sales, order management, accounting, or shipping.
- Maintain metrics, reports, process documentation, customer service logs, or training or safety records.
- Direct inbound or outbound logistics operations, such as transportation or warehouse activities, safety performance, or logistics quality management.
- Direct or coordinate comprehensive logistical or reverse logistical functions for product life cycles, including acquisition, distribution, internal allocation, delivery, recycling, reuse, or final disposal of resources.
- Negotiate with suppliers or customers to improve supply chain efficiency or sustainability.
- Direct distribution center operation to ensure achievement of cost, productivity, accuracy, or timeliness objectives.
- Negotiate transportation rates or services
- Analyze the financial impact of proposed logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or mixes, or carriers.
- Maintain driver files in compliance with the Department of Transportation and preparation for BIT Inspections.
- Responsible to manage housekeeping duties. These duties include but are not limited to: cleaning and straightening of the production areas by sweeping, mopping, washing and/or dusting as needed. Also attend to department safety conditions as necessary and determined by company policy.
- Enforce and effectively communicate company policies and procedures to all personnel.

- Report and document safety hazards, potentially hazardous conditions, and unsafe practices and procedures.
- Attends meetings and training sessions as required.

- Perform other duties as assigned that would lead to successful operation of department, team and/or mission.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of five years’ experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, including supervisory experience. Demonstration of excellent oral, written and documentation skill sets. Proficient technology and computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite. Demonstrated ability in managing databases regarding client information. Basic mathematical skills and the ability to read English.
Language Skills: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, managers, employees, clients, customers, and the general public using tact, courtesy and cooperativeness.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables; exercise judgment, resourcefulness, ingenuity and initiative.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Effective interpersonal and communications skills to interact effectively with all levels of management and staff. Proficient skills in Microsoft software; willingness and ability to become an in-house expert on those systems preferred. Ability to operate office equipment, including computer, telephone, cell phone, tablet, fax and copy machine. Must exhibit a high level of integrity and business ethics.
