SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Community Engagement Manager, reporting directly to the Vice President of Development, plays a key role in advancing both internal and external community engagement for Goodwill Industries of South Texas. This includes fostering connections within the Goodwill organization as well as with the communities we serve across the South Texas region. Key responsibilities involve organizing community donation drives, securing material donations, cultivating and expanding youth engagement programs, managing social media channels, and ensuring each initiative aligns with a strategic vision. The Manager will be expected to embody professionalism, courtesy, and the core values of Goodwill: Empowerment, Public Trust, Respect, Innovation, Quality, and Safety.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Material Donations Acquisition
- Develop, coordinate, and lead strategies for material donations acquisition. Successfully acquire donations from corporations, businesses, and the community throughout our region to meet the goals set forth by the VP of Development.
- Work under the direction of the VP of Development to oversee Mission Multiplier initiatives to maintain the highest quality, integrity, and mission-alignment. Manage the development and maintenance of Mission Multipliers donation acquisition, community partnerships, and MOUs when necessary. Cultivate ongoing new school and youth club / organization partnerships throughout the territory to meet the goals set forth by the VP of Development. Host regularly scheduled donation pickups and presentations with these partners monthly.
Understand and articulate the company’s value proposition and benefits of partnering with Goodwill Industries of South Texas. Market the activities of Goodwill Industries of South Texas to businesses and organizations. Build and maintain relationships with partner organizations. -
Community Engagement
- Maintain and grow partnerships with the Chambers of Commerce, Colleges, and special interest groups within our 20-county territory.
- Attend events hosted by these groups and find ways for Goodwill to share and further its mission.
- Conduct presentations for groups in the public and private sector, as well as the community at large for the purpose of education, awareness building, and marketing that are aligned to that group’s values/interests.
- Constantly look to bring new, fresh ways to connect with the community.
- Maintain positive and supportive relationships with schools, student organizations, scouts, and other youth-driven programs to empower the next generation of donors.
- Leverage the Mission Multipliers program to coordinate donation-related events and activities while educating the youth on Goodwill’s mission, services, and purpose. Find new and engaging ways to interact with youth that supports both their interests and goals while furthering Goodwill’s mission.
Communication
- Digital:
- Collaborate with the VP of Development to implement digital communication strategies in accordance with strategic initiatives. Provide content direction for photography, video, etc. Build internal/external newsletters and promotional emails. Update in-store messaging on Mood Media as needed.
Administrative
- Manage social media analytics to report growth trends and help with the strategic planning of marketing campaigns.
- Responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of donation drives. Assist with special events throughout the year. Perform other duties as directed or assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any of the following may be used to qualify:
- Bachelor’s degree and 1 (one) year related experience
- Associate degree and 3 (three) years related experience High School Diploma or equivalent and 5 (five) years related experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Valid Driver's License, clean driving record and carry minimum liability coverage as required by the State of Texas. Ability to travel independently to worksites and business meetings.
- Passion for building social communities.
- Ability to manage time and prioritize task completion. Ability to meet deadlines with quality results often in situations of high urgency.
- Working knowledge of a variety of social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook) & experience with newer / emerging social platforms.
- Strong copywriting skills. Graphic Design experience. Video filming/editing experience.
- Capacity to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to work efficiently without compromising quality of work or accuracy.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings as required.
- Must pass a pre-employment background check and Drug/Alcohol test.
