How this role supports our mission:
The Workforce Development Specialist (WFD) will provide support to the AZ@Work On the Job Training Program (OJT) with support services to youth and adults, under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). This position is stationed at the Pima County One Stop under Business Services Team at the Work Career Center. The WFD Specialist will provide support services by working with individuals with a variety of barriers to employment.

Special requirements:
- Minimum two (2) years professional level experience in career guidance or related field or at least one (1) year experience working with individuals with barriers to employment.
- Required to obtain AZ Department of Public Safety fingerprint and background clearance within 90 days of employment.

Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Business Management, Counseling and Guidance, Vocational Evaluation, Social Services, Education, Psychology or related preferred.
Inform the Employer Relations Team of any job leads received.
Contact each employer referred by the Employer Relations Team within two working days to determine willingness to participate in the OJT program. Within five working days of the contact, inform referral source of employer willingness and typed of OJT positions which may be available.
Meet at least once a month with the Pima County ARIZONA@WORK Youth Services Specialist Team.
Contact each participant referred from Pima County Arizona@WORK Case Managers, Job Developers, and Youth Specialist Services (individually “referral source”) within two working days.
Contact Referral source to discuss the referred participant and potential OJT opportunities no more than three working days after initial contact with the participants.
Prior to contacting a participant, review participant’s file to:
- Verify eligibility for funding source
- Ensure an “employment plan” has been developed with the “participant and WDS. This plan must be signed by both the participant and the WDS.
- Ensure that the “employment plan” addresses barriers to success.
- Determine if participant’s employment goal is appropriate.
Interview each participant to update ICP and ISS and determine the appropriateness of referral to the OJT Program.
Contact a minimum of three (3) potential employers each week on behalf of each participant until participant is placed into an OJT opportunity.
Insure Goodwill has an Employer W-9 on file with the Accounting.
Ensure employer is reimbursed within five (5) working days of receipt of invoice or notify employer to resolve any problems with an invoice.
Follow WIOA guidelines in writing and monitoring each OJT contract.
Document enrollments, completions, and activity changes in the database(s) required by the funding source(s) being used by the participant within twenty-four (24) hours of the event's occurrence.
Follow-up with the participant and employer monthly to determine success of placement.
Ability to work independently, with minimum supervision.
Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities and environments.
Ability to read, write, and speak English; follow written and verbal instruction.
Possess current AZ driver’s license, and personal transportation with proof of auto insurance.
