JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE Third Key Sales Associate
DEPARTMENT Retail
REPORTS TO Team Lead, Assistant Team Lead
FLSA STATUS Non-Exempt
JOB SUMMARY
The Third Key Sales Associate is responsible for operating the POS system, computer, and credit card machine, accurately. He or she assists customers professionally and courteously. He or she will be responsible, on occasion, for opening the store and responsible, on occasion, for closing the store. He or she is responsible for following all guidelines and procedures of the Push System. He or she is accountable to the Team Lead and Assistant Team Lead.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- He or she must accurately operate the POS system, computer, and credit card verification terminal.
- Is responsible for providing professional customer/donor service. Be responsive to all customer inquiries. Greet and say “THANK YOU” to all customers and donors who enter the retail donation.
- Responsible for answering the telephone professionally and courteously.
- Become familiar with our Goodwill Mission and activities, to answer donor/customer inquiries and provide adequate information about the store, processing center, transportation/donation sites, and the corporation.
- Must know and follow the set guidelines and procedures of the Push System in the placement and rotation of merchandise onto and off the sales floor. Maintains sales floor inventory at proper levels.
- Maintain proper cash controls per company-set policies and procedures.
- Adhere to Goodwill methods of payment: CASH; VISA, MASTER CARD, DISCOVER (debit/credit cards).
- Complete cash settlement report and any other reports as directed by Team Lead and/or Assistant Team Lead.
- Must have the ability and knowledge to prepare bank deposits, and deposit slips and in the absence of the Team Lead and/or Assistant Team Lead, make the bank deposit at the end of the business day.
- Be capable and knowledgeable of emailing daily store reports and any other paperwork to the appropriate location at the end of the business day.
- Maintain confidentiality of sales information.
- Inform the Team Lead and /or Assistant Team Lead of any supply or inventory shortages.
- Follow and maintain all established security and safety procedures
- Maintain a safe and orderly work environment at all times.
- Must have a reliable vehicle to transport deposits to the bank.
- Complete any and all duties as assigned by the District Team Lead, Team Lead, Assistant Team Lead, or other supervising colleague.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and Abilities
- Employment history must demonstrate the ability to run a shift and work independently and professionally.
- Ability to operate POS (Point of Sale) system and credit card terminal; take money as well as credit cards.
- Ability to count back and give customers the correct change.
- MUST maintain accurate cash and balance with cashier settlement report.
- Ability and knowledge to prepare bank deposits, deposit slips and make deposits at the end of the business day.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Have knowledge of current trends and styles to aid in displaying inventory.
- Ability to work a varied schedule and flexible hours Sunday through Saturday of each week.
- Ability to work independently and responsibly.
- Ability to project a positive image of Goodwill to the customers/donors.
- Ability to communicate with coworkers, customers, and donors professionally. Answer customer and donor questions and concerns or refer them to the Team Lead or Assistant Team Lead.
Training and Experience
- POS system and computer skills
- Able to count and do math, read, write, and complete paperwork.
- High school graduate or GED preferred.
- Prior cash register and checkout experience preferred.
- Must be able to make sound decisions quickly, with confidence.
- Must be able to understand and carry out instructions.
- Must be able to oversee sales associates in the absence of Team Lead and Assistant Team Lead.
- Must be able to perform as a team player with co-workers and supervisors.
PHYSICAL/SENSORY DEMANDS
- Ability to move throughout the store, shipment/return area, and donation center site.
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and reach for eight (8) hours or more if necessary.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 35 pounds as required.
- Satisfactory eyesight: Visually distinguish methods of payment, and follow appropriate procedures.
- Ability to grasp merchandise for packaging, organization, and display.
