The Donation Services Driver will provide a consistent acquisition of donations through our pickup program. To represent Goodwill by assisting donors in a consistent, efficient, and friendly manner when picking up donated goods from homes, businesses, and donation drives. To safeguard donations by sorting and packing them in proper receptacles and onto the trucks. To offer donors excellent customer service and donation receipts for their items. To maintain records of the number of donations received and locations of internal drop-offs.
Essential Functions
- Exhibit a high level of customer service awareness, including being courteous and appreciative to all donors, calling when en route, providing donation receipts, and greeting donors.
- Carry, sort, and pack donations as designated by Donation Services leadership.
- To project professionalism inside donors’ homes.
- To handle all donations with care, assuring the highest potential of utility.
- Decline donations graciously when appropriate.
- To communicate Goodwill’s mission to donors.
- To complete pre-trip inspections, daily donation tracking and other reports as required in an accurate and timely manner.
- Transport and deliver donated items to the assigned retail store. Assist the store in the unloading of these items.
- Provide guidance and leadership to the assistant driver.
- Uphold the safety of the work areas and trucks by following company policies and procedures.
- Follow all rules and regulations of the road, including local, state, and federal laws.
- Provide prompt, accurate feedback to the supervisor on any obstacles, concerns, or violations of company policies.
- Be knowledgeable of and comply with all company policies and procedures, as well as legal requirements, at all times.
- Regular, reliable attendance, as defined in Goodwill’s attendance policy.
- Being flexible and having the ability to work on community and fundraising donation drives on Saturdays.
- Maintain cleanliness of required Goodwill attire (consisting of Shirts, Long-Sleeve shirts, Jackets, hats, etc.)
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Job Requirements
Education
- High School diploma or GED is required. (5 years of positive experience as a Mover or certification in a like field may be substituted.)
Experience
Experience driving a 26’ box truck for at least 1 year is required. Three years of a clean driving history is required.
Experience as a Mover or related profession is preferred, but not required.
Certifications and Licenses
- Class D driver’s license
Knowledge and Skills
- Comply with the Department of Transportation requirements and possess a clean Motor Vehicle Record.
- Report and pass a D.O.T. physical.
- Communicate effectively and interact with persons of various backgrounds and experiences.
- Possess strong organizational skills and is able to establish priorities.
- Function independently within the realms of established policies and guidelines.
- Able to be dependable and conscientious.
- Able to promote cooperation and a team environment within the department.
- Able to maintain strict confidentiality of records of persons served and supervised at all times.
- Knowledge of road safety.
- Ability to learn new processes quickly.
- Ability to read and do basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
- Must know and use proper lifting techniques to avoid injury.
- Must have sufficient stamina for a steady work pace through an entire shift.
Essential Physical Abilities
- Ability to lift or carry loads weighing over 50 pounds continuously.
- Ability to push or pull loads weighing over 50 pounds continuously.
Working Conditions
- Ability to work outdoors in wet, hot, cold, and/or humid weather conditions in a professional manner.
Experience as a Mover or related profession.
