Financial Services Specialist (Mission)
Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers – Columbus, GA
The Mission Services division seeks a Financial Services Specialist with excellent interpersonal skills. This individual will work with clients, volunteers, and seasonal workers daily to ensure the GoodwillSR free tax services programs effectively serve individuals to the best of our abilities.
Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers, Inc.’s Financial Services Specialist responsibilities:
- Oversees all operating duties for the GoodwillSR tax program at the designated location
- Prepare for tax season by recruiting volunteers and seasonal workers; create community awareness of volunteer opportunities.
- Develop a tax training curriculum to educate and train volunteers and seasonal workers.s
- Perform all talent management responsibilities for volunteers and seasonal workers (training, scheduling, performance reviews, coaching, etc.)
- Prepare and file taxes for clients year-round
- Communicate with clients for rejected tax returns
- Document all tax and client information in the case management, HUB, and IRS data systems.
- Serve as the go-to person for all tax-related questions at the designated location.
- Research and partner with other organizations to provide virtual tax filing options to clients
- Develop and plan a financial wellness curriculum
- Facilitate financial wellness workshops and VITA certification classes
- Prepare training material for all financial wellness workshops and training
- As appropriate, engage with clients and refer qualified clients to Goodwill programs and resources.
- Complete other financial services duties as requested by the Financial Services Coordinator.
Requirements:
- The level of knowledge is generally gained through completing an undergraduate degree.
- Two years of supervisory experience, accounting experience, tax knowledge, and tax law training
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products and TaxSlayer (or willing and able to learn)
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to coach and train individuals on different products (IRS.gov, ID.me, etc)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
