Grounds Laborer

Location: Wilmington, Delaware

Monday - Friday from 8am to 4:30pm / 5pm

Rate of pay - $18.00 an hour

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
This is a manual working position skilled in performing a variety of tasks that frequently involve the use of acquired skills and may often require continuous considerable physical strength and endurance. Work involves the performance of heavy and light manual labor necessitating the use of a variety of skills. Work is usually performed under the supervision of a superior, who issues general orders on routine jobs and specific instructions when departures are made from established procedures. All work is subject to review in process and upon completion.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Clean areas assigned.
• Performs general janitorial tasks: sweeps, mops, waxes floors, and cleans walls.
• Assists a Mechanic in performing routine building maintenance tasks.
• Maintains a safe work environment and exhibits safe work practices.
• Attend training provided by the WHA to further develop relevant knowledge, techniques and skills.
• Pick-up trash, debris outside. Rake, Mulch, any outside yard work.
• Maintain the outside of building
• Sufficient physical strength to safely lift and move heavy objects.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to keep routine records.
• Other related duties as required by supervision.

CUSTOMER SERVICE:

• Provide responsive, professional and diplomatic customer service.
• Communicate with internal customers and residents in a friendly, professional, and patient manner.

SAFETY:

• Use and promote safe work practices in the office and in the field.
• Follow all company safety programs and report any non-compliance to your manager.
• Notify manager or safety personnel of any unsafe conditions.

• Working 40 hours/week, scheduled in 8 hour shifts.

• The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.

• The employee may frequently lift, push, and/or move up to 75 pounds.

EDUCATION: High school diploma or a GED equivalent is required, or any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
