Overview
Safely and efficiently drives and operates Goodwill of Greater Washington (GGW) vehicles and related equipment. Loads and unloads materials by hand or with the use of mechanical or powered equipment. Provides excellent service to the GGW team and external customers, cooperating as a team member throughout the organization and functioning as a problem solver whenever possible. Maintains detailed and accurate records as required by local, state, federal, and GGW laws and policies. This position is responsible, and will be held accountable, for behaving in accordance with divisional and organizational RISE values and expectations.

Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and property in all work activities. Follows all prescribed safety and security practices. Immediately reports all safety or security hazards or incidents to supervisor. Promptly informs supervisor of observations regarding potential safety or security lapses.2. Operates vehicles and equipment in compliance with all local, state, federal, and GGW laws and policies. Follows all accepted principles of safe and efficient driving.3. Performs daily inspections of vehicle prior to operating, completing provided checklist. Promptly reports observations and maintenance needs to supervisor.4. Drives vehicle to assigned destinations in accordance with daily schedule.5. Maintains accurate daily trip records as directed. Provides trip records to supervisor at conclusion of each shift. Also, notifies supervisor at end of shift about any problems, concerns, or issues encountered during shift.6. Loads and unloads vehicles as assigned, by hand or with the assistance of mechanical or powered equipment. Ensures vehicles are loaded properly for safe and secure transport. Leaves transported materials safely and securely at designated destinations as assigned.7. Provides professional and polite interactions and excellent service at all times. Works as a vital team member throughout the organization to understand needs and challenges and to provide solutions. When solutions are not apparent, immediately contacts supervisor for assistance. Maintains confidentiality at all times.8. Represents GGW throughout the organization and externally by maintaining a clean, neat uniform and appearance and clean, neat vehicles.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:1. Performs other duties as directed.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.2. At least one year of previous commercial driving history.3. Ability to pass GGW-administered road test prior to beginning work.4. Valid CDL-A driver’s license.5. Valid DOT medical card.6. Previous driving experience in an environment that requires excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.7. For the safe and effective performance of the job and the successful operation of the employer’s business, Team member must possess the ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions in English, as well as ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing using English.8. Ability to read, understand, and follow maps and GPS directions.9. Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, bending, lifting, kneeling and climbing for prolonged periods of time (up to 7 hours – per 8-hour shift)10. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. At least two years’ previous work experience in driving- or transportation-related field.2. At least one year’s previous work experience driving and maneuvering a tractor trailer of at least 53 feet.3. At least five years’ previous work experience.4. Previous experience working in a warehouse environment.5. Previous experience using powered material-moving equipment (such as electric pallet jacks and forklifts).6. Multilingual with proficiency in English.
