Job Summary:
The Position
Mayor’s Young Leaders Advisory Council (MYLAC) is comprised of a diverse group of 50 high school students who serve as the liaison between the youth in Jacksonville and the Mayor. The council’s primary purpose is to be civically engaged and to promote youth civic engagement in their communities. The Council will undertake the development and execution of a youth focus program and event centered on a societal issue the council identifies to be relevant in the lives of their peers. The MYLAC Coordinator will oversee the activities of the council to include monthly meetings to facilitate the MYLAC project as well as implementing workshops for MYLAC participants to identify and determine college and career opportunities.

Job Duties
General
- The MYLAC Coordinator will work with Kids Hope Alliance (KHA) and city staff to coordinate MYLAC meetings and workshops.
- Plan and execute MYLAC meetings
- Facilitate and work with youth to select a timely and relevant issue and produce group project,
- Work with KHA staff to identify topics related to career and college readiness in order to create the year plan for the students
- Coordinate with KHA staff the best stipend/scholarship plan for eligible graduating MYLAC seniors
- Organize and implement communications with MYLAC participants seeking approval when appropriate, including invites and RSVPs
- Select meeting dates and times and prepare agenda
- Secure meeting space and resources required for the meetings
- Develop plan for Teen InitiativeVP,
- Create marketing plan and announce plan
- Secure a civic event for MYLAC students participation (i.e. Legislative days in Tallahassee or a local City Council event
- Host at least one MYLAC workshop/Fieldtrip
- Manage the purchase Florida Prepaid plans for eligible seniors
- Plan and host an end of program year celebration
- Award and distribute stipend/scholarship
- Work with KHA staff to recruit and enroll 2023/2024 MYLAC participants
