What are the responsibilities and job description for the Trainer position at GOODWILL OF SOUTH FLORIDA?
To teach and enhance job skills, attitudes, and behavior critical to the success of people with disabilities in a manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following. Other duties maybe assigned.
- Perform job analysis to understand the demands of the job and required functions.
This process should include analyzing the task, environment, physical/mental demands, tools, and equipment; sew sample articles to determine steps in assembly; human relations and any other significant job demand such as transportation, communication, etc.
- Train the participant to perform job duties independently. The training will include: teaching the appropriate methods to perform the operation; implementation of training based on participant’s learning style and individual needs; fill out the production record sheet; manage production obstacles (cutting errors, work aids, report to supervisor, etc.); understand production goals and piece rate system for the operation; detect and correct defective work; care and manage the equipment; etc.
- Plan training schedule, monitor, and encourage the achievement of production standards in specified time.
- Assess performance, record production, and timeframes, and report the participant’s progress according to training schedule. If needed, recommend participant transfer from one operation to another.
- Perform other duties as assigned consistent with the needs of the department.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has the in-direct responsibility of supervising employees who have been assigned to them for coaching.
Qualifications:
Must have excellent sewing skills and be able to sew in different types of sewing machines. Must have basic knowledge of design patterns, and cutting of sewing material. Must have high school diploma or equivalent, AA degree is preferred. Must have excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, ability to deliver clear and precise instructions, recordkeeping, and analytical skills.
