GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
To recruit, screen, and train mentors; determine participant eligibility; and oversee the progress of mentor-mentee matches. The primary goal is to ensure that youth participants achieve the objectives outlined in their Individual Career and Financial Plan (ICFP).
To foster professional relationships with mentors, mentees, community partners, and referring agencies to support the success of the program and Goodwill’s mission.
To establish professional relationships with participants, worksites, referring agencies, and associates to positively implement Goodwill’s Mission in which goals and objectives can be met.
To uphold Goodwill’s CARES Values.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruit, screen, and select mentors based on program criteria.
Design and deliver comprehensive mentor training.
Interview and assess youth participants to determine program eligibility and identify goals, barriers, and support needs.
Facilitate intake and orientation processes, ensuring participants understand program objectives and safety practices.
Pair mentors and mentees based on compatibility, goals, and developmental needs.
Monitor mentor-mentee relationships to ensure alignment with program objectives.
Track the progress of mentor-mentee matches using qualitative and quantitative metrics.
Ensure goals outlined in each youth’s Individual Career and Financial Plan (ICFP) are achieved through continuous assessment and guidance.
Maintain accurate and complete records for all participants and mentors, ensuring compliance with case file and reporting requirements.
Document all activities, including services provided, progress toward goals, and barriers addressed, in a timely and accurate manner.
Compile and submit weekly and/or monthly narrative, statistical, and financial reports as required.
Act as a liaison between Goodwill and external agencies, such as schools, technical colleges, workforce agencies, and community organizations, to enhance program success.
Develop relationships with employers and community partners to support program objectives, such as providing job opportunities, apprenticeships, or work-based learning experiences.
Participate in program evaluation processes to assess effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
Contribute to the development of innovative strategies to enhance the mentor program’s impact.
Ensure all participant records and activities comply with organizational policies, procedures, and HIPAA regulations.
Safeguard the confidentiality of participant information.
Provide work supports, resources, and referrals as needed to help participants achieve vocational and educational goals.
Support participants with job referrals, placement, follow-up, and retention services.
Perform additional duties as assigned to meet organizational objectives.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college and one to two years related experience; or combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Proficient and skilled in MS Office (Excel and Word) and Outlook
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of social service, labor market information and community agency practices
Ability to network and develop relationships with agencies and employers
Have a working knowledge and familiarity with basic ADA regulations
Ability to:

Minimum Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must be able to drive, and must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license, liability insurance, dependable vehicle, clean driving record. Ability to successfully complete a criminal background check and drug/alcohol test.
Physical Requirements: Daily requirement may include balancing, reaching, talking, hearing, seeing, standing, stooping, kneeling, handling and lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling, May be exposed to dust and odors. May be required to do limited work outdoors.
Safety & Security: Responsible for following all safety, security, and money handling procedures, as directed by Goodwill policy. Report all accidents, however slight, to your supervisor immediately. Never leave the premises without reporting any accident that occurred during your working time. If medical treatment is needed during your non-work hours, the supervisor should be contacted.

Work Hours: Up to 25 hours per week. The hours worked daily may vary. Monday – Friday; however, there will be times that the position requires work on the weekend (Saturday – Sunday) to meet the professional requirements of the job.
Work Attire: Business attire; however, professional attire when appropriate. Dress is reflective of GIUMSC’s positive image in the community. Each associate should present a fashionable, neat and clean appearance at all times.
