Role Overview :
Under the direct supervision of the VP of Finance and Accounting, the Staff Accountant performs functions pertaining to financial reporting, assists with monitoring and reporting financial results, provides quality control for day-to-day accounting functions, and supports the efforts of the Finance Department.
Exemplary Duties / Responsibilities :
- Maintain the fixed asset and associated depreciation schedules on the FAS Software System; provide monthly detail to the accounting team for General Journal entries; ensure proper recording of new purchases and disposals.
- Develop monthly and year-end financial reporting.
- Prepare and analyze information using spreadsheet reports; verify information.
- Prepare general ledger entries by maintaining records and files and reconciling accounts.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
- Perform monthly accruals, amortization of prepaid expenses, and recording of adjusting and reclassification journal entries, if necessary.
- Process cash receipts.
- Perform other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required occasionally, quite often, or at short notice - by the VP of Finance and Accounting.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. This position provides support and guidance to accounting clerks.
- Support employee and contract payroll processing.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned
