We are seeking an on-site Accounting Manager to join our team near Lincoln, NE.
This is a unique opportunity to participate in virtually all financial processes within our organization.
Responsibilities
- Supervise 2 staff Accountants
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with GAAP, including balance sheet, income statement, cash flow, variance, etc.
- Oversee preparation of supporting schedules and related working papers
- Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and resolve discrepancies
- Administer and maintain accounting software and chart of accounts
- Assist other departments with their financial software (commodity and maintenance software systems)
- Ensure the timeliness and accuracy of all accounting processes including Payables, Receivables, Inventory, Hedging/Commodity, Debt, etc
- Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Oversee monthly tax reporting (sales tax, use tax, fuel tax, etc)
- Manage cash processes (disbursements and receipts)
- Prepare periodic financial reports (yield analysis, production report, key metrics, sales)
- Prepares monthly reports for lenders and quarterly financial statements for investors
- Prepares quarterly audit committee reports
- Drives the year-end audit process
- Prepares information for year-end income tax filings
- Lead variance reporting: investigate significant differences and work with other departments to determine the root cause of variances
- Assists with initiatives to control and reduce costs including opportunities to minimize company and investor tax obligations
- Assists with annual budget and quarterly forecasts
- Reviews all disbursements and receipts, including the "3-way match" between purchase orders, invoices, and receipts
- Liaison between purchasing agent, managers, and vendors in the resolution of disbursement inquiries and issues
- Reviews and approves credit applications
- Leads Board of Directors relations process including correspondence, meeting preparation, and compensation
- Obtains familiarity with financial impact of lender agreements (e.g., interest rates, fees, financial covenants, etc.)
- Manage the IT function, including the relationship with the organization's service provider
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- 7 years experience in an accounting role supporting a manufacturing plant or energy company
- 3 years management experience
- CPA or CMA preferred
- Strong ERP system and reporting experience required
- Great Plains and Management Reporter experience a plus
- Desire and ability to work on-site in rural Nebraska (not hybrid or remote)
