Performance Expectations For The Commercial Roofing Superintendent

• Serve as a critical face of the company for customers and vendors, ensuring positive representation of the organization (e.g., wearing CIS-branded polo shirts). Provide proper communication to Sales, Management, and Customers to ensure smooth project completion.
• Ensure jobs are completed as proposed—within budget, meeting manufacturer specifications, and achieving 100% customer satisfaction. Manage job expenses within established boundaries.
• Submit accurate daily reports on time cards, materials purchased, labor/material costs for extras, customer concerns, or safety issues in compliance with company policies. Provide estimates and documentation for change orders as needed. Submit all required paperwork (e.g., daily reports and weekly safety/quality inspection reports) on time.
• Conduct weekly jobsite safety meetings and ensure they are documented per company procedures. Assist in resolving customer problems while maintaining safety standards on-site.
• Serve as a culture carrier by promoting customer service excellence and fostering a team-focused attitude toward continual improvement. Assist management and other superintendents in resolving customer issues. Lead by example in maintaining professionalism and teamwork.
  
  

Skills Required For The Commercial Roofing Superintendent

• Proficiency in repairing and installing the most common roof types (commercial and residential).
• Experience with and knowledge of different commercial roofing systems (TPO, PVC, BUR, etc.) and major suppliers (Garland, Tremco, etc.).
• Ability to plan and manage multiple re-roofing projects simultaneously, including safety and quality control planning with a staff of 12 .
• Ability to actively manage subcontractor crews.
• Competence with traditional workplace technology (e.g., email, spreadsheets) and openness to adopting new technology solutions for improved efficiency.
• Strong decision-making skills to ensure projects are completed safely, within budget, and with 100% customer satisfaction.
• Ability to coordinate projects from the sales stage through completion, including auditing and controlling material order lists, planning manpower requirements, staging plans, completing Job Hazard Analysis reports, and conducting pre-construction meetings with customers, consultants, and any other required parties.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills; fluent in English (spoken, written, and reading). Spanish fluency is not required but is a plus.
• Ability to simultaneously manage last-minute schedule changes, shifting priorities, and customer requests. Knowledge of labor budgets with the ability to manage them effectively.
• Capable of training new employees on basic roofing skills to develop them into skilled roofing technicians.
• Ability to pull and manage permits as required by the project and jurisdiction.
• OSHA 30 certification (or ability to attain it).
• NRCA Foreman Pro-Certification (or ability to attain it).
