The Pool Operator and Technician is responsible for preparing newly constructed pools for use and providing ongoing maintenance and repair services. This role ensures that all pool systems are properly installed, balanced, and functioning. Additionally, the technician manages ongoing pool care by addressing maintenance requirements, troubleshooting issues, and performing necessary repairs.
Pool Operator And Technician Responsibilities
- Set up and thoroughly inspect & maintain pool equipment, such as pumps, filters, heaters, and lights, ensuring all systems are correctly installed and functioning properly.
- Initiate and test pool circulation, filtration systems, and heaters to verify proper operation. Check for any leaks, confirm correct water flow, and ensure all systems are working efficiently.
- Test and adjust the pool's water chemistry, ensuring chemical levels (chlorine, pH, alkalinity, calcium hardness, etc.) are within optimal ranges. Add necessary chemicals to maintain safe and balanced water conditions.
- Identify and resolve any issues with pool systems, equipment, or water chemistry during startup or routine maintenance.
- Ensure that all pool safety equipment, including skimmers, ladders, and covers, is properly installed and functional. Verify compliance with local safety standards and regulations.
- Educate pool owners on proper pool care, maintenance schedules, and chemical balancing. Provide guidance on the correct use of equipment and safety practices.
- Maintain accurate records of daily visits, fulfill manufacturer testing requirements, and complete necessary warranty documentation.
- Assist in the seasonal opening and closing of pools, including winterization services, and ensuring equipment is prepared for the offseason.
- Expand Customer base: Reach out to potential customers; offer new products and equipment upgrades to current customers
- Provide service with the best turnaround time possible
- Previous experience in pool equipment installation, startup, and maintenance, or a related technical field, is preferred. Training opportunities are available for individuals with a solid technical background.
- A Pool & Spa Operator (CPO) certification or equivalent may be required or preferred. Additional certifications in pool equipment or services are a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of pool systems, including pumps, heaters, filters, and water chemistry.
- Ability to diagnose and repair pool equipment and systems effectively.
- Strong understanding of pool chemicals and expertise in maintaining proper water balance.
- Basic plumbing and electrical skills for equipment repairs.
- Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
- A valid driver’s license is required, as the technician will need to travel to customer properties.
- Ability to travel 4 nights a week on a regular basis -- Extended travel may be required to meet deadlines
- Hourly compensation of $25-35 DOE
