Pool Service Technician Qualifications

• Previous experience in pool equipment installation, startup, and maintenance is preferred; training is available for those with a strong technical background.
• Certified Pool & Spa Operator (CPO) certification or equivalent may be required or preferred; additional pool-related certifications are a plus.
• Strong knowledge of pool systems, including pumps, heaters, filters, and water chemistry.
• Ability to diagnose, repair, and maintain pool equipment and systems.
• Basic plumbing and electrical skills for equipment repairs.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license required for travel to customer locations.
• Ability to travel four nights per week on a regular basis—extended travel may be required.
  
  

Pool Service Technician Responsibilities

• Inspect, install, and maintain pool equipment, including pumps, filters, heaters, and lighting systems.
• Start up and test pool circulation and filtration systems to confirm efficiency, check for leaks, and ensure proper operation.
• Analyze and adjust water chemistry to maintain safe and balanced conditions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues, water chemistry imbalances, and system malfunctions.
• Ensure all pool safety equipment is properly installed and compliant with local safety regulations.
• Educate pool owners on routine maintenance, proper equipment use, and best practices for chemical balancing.
• Maintain accurate records of service visits, manufacturer testing requirements, and warranty documentation.
• Assist with seasonal pool openings and closures, including winterization.
• Expand the customer base by reaching out to potential clients and offering new products and equipment upgrades.
• Provide exceptional service with the fastest turnaround time possible.
