Position Description Summary / Purpose :
Under the direction of the Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness, the Director of Assessment is responsible for overseeing academic assessment for the University. The position is responsible for ensuring that all academic programs follow the schedule established by the OIE and comply with all policies relating to academic program review in collaboration with the program faculty and academic deans. This position will coordinate and oversee the process for academic assessment in all degree programs and courses and provides a comprehensive assessment of student learning outcomes across the college, in accordance with Standard 8 (Educational Effectiveness) of the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE). This position also facilitates and coordinates the University's academic assessment committee.

- Works closely with the academic leadership team to ensure assessment plans are implemented and followed including submission of an annual assessment reports to the Office of Institutional Effectiveness.
- Coordinates the University's assessment committee including scheduling regular meetings and facilitating discussion of items related to the assessment of student learning.
- Provides supervision and leadership in the development and implementation of policies and procedures governing the planning, program review, and assessment of all academic programs.
- Provides supervision and leadership in the collection, analysis, interpretation, and communication of data, both internal and external, to drive University-wide planning and institutional decision-making.
- Works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administrators to develop and maintain a culture of evidence-based decision making to support the continuous improvement of student learning outcomes assessments using appropriate measures and indicators.
- Coordinates processes of program review and assessment across the University and ensures compliance with NECHE and other accrediting agency requirements.
- Represents the University at meetings and conferences, serves as a representative on committees, and other activities, makes presentations at meetings, workshops and events as assigned.
- Promotes internal and external communication of assessment results.
- Fulfills other responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness and Student Systems.
