Position Description Summary/Purpose:
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Finance, this position performs a variety of business, accounting, and financial functions related to the operation of Goodwin University and its subsidiaries. Assists in the preparation of financial statements, journal entries, account reconciliations and month/year end closing processes.
Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities:

- Shares responsibility for the day to day accounting activities for Goodwin University and its subsidiaries.
- Assists in the preparation of the monthly financial package in accordance with the monthly tasks checklist.
- Works with the Facilities Operations Administrator to process monthly billing statements for rental property tenants.
- Updates security deposit schedules for rental properties.
- Prepares and posts intercompany payroll entries.
- Posts monthly billings and payments for commercial tenants and distributes rent receivables report.
- Reconciles intercompany accounts monthly.
- Posts barter transactions and reconciliation of statements to general ledger.
- Maintains fixed asset schedules and construction project costs for the University and its subsidiaries.
- Posts the monthly depreciation expenses.
- Performs bank reconciliations and makes appropriate journal entries to reflect account activity.
- Prepares and posts journal entries for real estate closings and updates all corresponding real estate files.
- Formats and posts Goodwin College King Court, LLC journal entries received from management company.
- Prepares semi-annual real estate tax analysis and rollforward schedules.
- Prepares annual Town Filings for Mandatory Income and Expense Reports and Declaration of Personal Property.
- Books monthly banking & investment activity for Goodwin Foundation, Inc.
- Assists in audit preparatory work.
- Assists with the preparation of tax returns.
- External invoicing.
- Posts quarterly postage allocation journal entries.
- Conducts all work in a safe manner and all work safety practices are followed.
Other Functions:
- Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
- Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends.
- Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.

- Requires a working knowledge of financial statements
- Must have excellent time management, communication, decision-making, human relations and organizational skills
- Must have the ability to multi-task and work independently
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office with a focus on Excel, and accounting software
- Performs work within standard practices and procedures with review of progress or results by Assistant Director of Finance
- Must be comfortable working with a diverse team of talented individuals across multiple operating entities
Qualifications
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Education, Training and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or relevant business field of study required, with at least 1 year of relevant business experience strongly preferred.
