General Description:
As a Laboratory Technician II, you will gain hands-on experience providing analytical test results for in-process and finished product sampling and data output for units within one of Goodyear's Chemical manufacturing plants. Goodyear Chemical is a division of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company which manufactures and markets rubber-related chemicals for various applications. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Process testing, including Raw Material, In-process and Finished Product
- Follow, Review and Update Procedures/Work Instructions
- Support ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 management systems
- Perform process/product Inspection
- Maintain testing equipment
- Calibration of lab equipment
- Maintain acceptable level of housekeeping
- Ability to gather samples from process unit and analyze samples during start-ups
- Abide by standard work procedures and job safety standards, including required PPE
- Perform a variety of manual tasks in varying temperatures for extended periods of time, which may include lifting light to heavy materials, climbing, standing, squatting, bending, and working at heights and/or confined spaces when applicable
- Adhere to Goodyear's attendance policy
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Understand and follow all instructions, both orally and in writing
Basic Qualifications:
- HS Diploma/GED
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship now or in the future
- Must be able to successfully complete all pre-employment criteria
- Ability to work any and/or rotating shifts, weekends, or holidays if applicable
- Ability to work overtime as needed to meet staffing requirements
- Basic computer skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) years previous experience in instrumental laboratory testing
- Experience adhering to industry-specific safety standards
- Knowledge of general laboratory practices, instrumentation specifically gas chromatographs and ability to perform basic math skills
- Proficient in instrumentation skills, specifically with laboratory information management systems
- PC skills to include MS Office programs, SAP and Outlook.
