Goodyear Tall Timbers - Findlay Mold Operations Apprenticeship
Our Apprenticeship programs is a structured training initiative designed to provide individuals with hands-on experience and technical knowledge in tire mold-making and maintenance. Apprentices work closely with experienced technicians and skilled craftsmen, learning the ins and outs of creating, repairing, and maintaining the molds used to shape and form tires. The program typically combines on-the-job training with classroom instruction, allowing apprentices to gain a deep understanding of mold design, material properties, machining, and quality control processes. In addition to the practical training, the selected candidate will be required to apply and enroll in an accredited 2-year college degree program, which will complement the on-the-job learning and further enhance their technical skills. Apprentices will receive an hourly pay rate during their training, along with financial assistance to help cover school-related expenses. The program also fosters a strong understanding of safety protocols, problem-solving techniques, and the use of specialized equipment to ensure optimal mold performance throughout the manufacturing process.
General Description:
The apprenticeship position may require standing and walking on a hard surface, working in fluctuating temperatures and industrial environments, doing physically demanding work, working at heights of 10 feet or greater, and entering confined spaces. Team and individual project work. Operating and programming CNC machines. Developing and implementing computer-aided manufacturing processes and working with CAD/CAM software. Utilizing CMM (coordinate measuring machines) technology to inspect and measure parts with high precision. Gaining familiarity with additive manufacturing techniques such as laser sintering (a form of 3D printing). Satisfactory completion of a probationary period and following established safety policies.
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Would be assigned a mentor(s) who would work closely with you and guide you in applying the skills and theories learned in the classroom to real projects that Goodyear Tire is currently working on such as the following:
- Understand and interpret drawings that support the manufacturing of parts made at Tall Timbers
- Understand the methods of Hand finishing needed for parts that come off our Machining Centers
- Understand safety and operation of all machining centers
- Ability to read gages and measurement tools to support accurate quality checks
- Some exposure to welding technologies
- Abide by safe work standards
- Adhere to Goodyear's attendance policy
- Perform a variety of manual tasks which may include lifting light to heavy materials, climbing, standing, squatting, bending, and working at heights when applicable
- Other general responsibilities:

Basic Qualifications:
- HS Diploma/GED achieved by the start date of June 1, 2025
- Must be at least 18 years of age by the start date of June 1, 2025
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship now or in the future
- Required to lift heavy materials, climb, stand, squat, bend and work at heights with or without reasonable accommodations
- Must be able to successfully complete all post-offer, pre-employment contingencies
- Ability to work any and/or rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, or overtime if applicable
