About Us
The Goose Creek Rural Fire Department is a combination paid / volunteer fire department in Berkeley County, South Carolina. Our primary coverage area is the unincorporated areas of Goose Creek. We provide full-time coverage with both part-time and volunteer staff. We protect a district of over 600 residential homes, 5 shopping centers, 3 schools, 13 apartment complexes, 11 industrial facilities, and a population of over 20,000. We provide free training to members ranging from entry level to advanced for all positions in the department. Once basic training is completed, all members are required to work a specific number of shifts in the station.

Job Position Description
The position of Volunteer Firefighter is an entry level position and applies to volunteer personnel who are new to the Department. All personnel will be required to complete six (6) months of probation regardless of their level of training. The Volunteer Firefighter is responsible for responding to emergency calls relating to fires, hazardous materials, rescues, emergency medical incidents, and perform station duties as assigned by the supervisor. In addition to emergency related incidents, the volunteer firefighter is responsible for promoting Fire Prevention and general safety to the residents of the district.
