Job Summary
Receive, test, diagnose, repair, and program RF equipment including mobile and handheld two-radios, repeaters, POC devices, and accessory equipment; Remotely assist field service technicians by providing programming information and support as needed; Program and provision POC devices; Assist in shipping, receiving and inventory upkeep as directed; Assist service coordinator and inside sales with technical knowledge on part selection and identification; Coordinate factory warranty repair; Assist in the staging, programming, and testing of dispatch consoles and simulcast systems as directed.
Job Responsibilities
- Demonstration of our core values at all times
- Assist Service Coordinator and Inside Sales with technical knowledge for part selection and identification
- Use of service management software to ensure proper record documentation and process flow
- Field inbound technician and customer support phone calls
- Use of an RF Service monitor to test equipment and understand readings
- Test and program portable and mobile two-way radios
- Test and program RF repeaters
- Program and provision of POC devices
- Engrave radio cases and housings as directed
- Create/modify code plugs
- Test, diagnose, and repair portable and handheld radios, repeaters and BDAs
- Provide quotes for repair estimates to include parts and labor costs
- Coordinate factory/warranty service repairs and assist with shipping and receiving of these items
- Maintain a collection of programming and testing equipment including programming cables
- Maintain a database of firmware, software, and files needed to program new and legacy equipment
- Stay up to date with the newest releases and updates of all firmware for our products and services
- Create technician step by step how to guides as directed
Skills
- Ability to work independently and as an active member of a team
- Proficiency with all Microsoft Office products
- Strong multitasking, time management, and prioritization skills
- Excellent organizational skills and initiative are preferred
- Strong foundation and understanding of technology
- Ability to follow a detailed process
- Self-motivated and directed
- Understanding of Ohms law and basic low voltage electrical work
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues in a systematic approach
Educational Requirements
- High School Diploma (Required)
- Technical training and certifications (preferred) (OSHA, R56, Motorola, Kenwood, Harris, EF Johnson, etc)
- RF or IT background (preferred)
