Description
The Assistant Extrusion Manager ensures the production of company products at the highest quality and at the lowest possible cost, meeting company policies and procedures. The Assistant Extrusion manager will act in a manner that is consistent with Gordon Aluminum’s Customer 1st Philosophy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
The general purpose of the Assistant Extrusion Manager is, under the direction of the Extrusion Manager, to coordinate and manage the workload for two extrusion presses and a die tooling department. The Assistant Extrusion Manager ls responsible to ensure each extrusion press is operating as efficiently as possible while producing a quality product within a safe work environment.
- Ensure work environment is safe for all employees.
- Ensure process is controlled and is providing a quality aluminum extruded product.
- Ensure process is meeting departmental production goals and that the extrusion presses are operating as efficiently as possible.
- Responsible for the extrusion die repair department and quality of extrusion die tooling.
- Assist Engineering with extrusion die design and quoting.
- Mentoring departmental Supervisors and extrusion press employees as necessary and ensuring that each employee is adequately trained and competent in the position for which they are employed.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Physical Demands
Physical Demands refers to the level and/or duration of physical exertion generally required to perform occupational takes (sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing and pulling).
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear. Perform repetitive motion of fingers, hands, wrists, shoulders and upper body. The employee if regularly required to use hands handle and feel, and reach with hands and arms.
The employee will occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point), depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships), and ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Hearing protection is required on the production floor.
Employee is expected to wear the required personal protective equipment when on the production floor.
