What are the responsibilities and job description for the Painter/ General Maintenance I position at Gordon County Schools?
The job of Painter / General Maintenance is done for the purpose / s of preparing and painting a variety of surfaces; repairing a variety of surfaces and ensuring availability of supplies required for job assignment. Additonally, the job of Painter / General Maintenace I may require assisting with general maintennance repairs outside of painting responsibilities. Coordinates with administration and other trades for the purpose of completing projects / work orders efficiently.
- Designs signs for the purpose of providing directional and cautionary information.
- Inspects facilities for the purpose of ensuring safety and cleanliness, and identifying necessary repairs.
- Maintains tools and / or equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment in safe operating condition.
- Prepares various surfaces (e.g. buildings, parking lots, game courts, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining facilities in a safe, comfortable and operating condition.
- Prepares various surfaces (e.g. cleaning, sanding, masking, nail holes, cracks, joints, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that they are ready for painting.
- Removes graffiti for the purpose of minimizing vandalism and maintaining attractive facilities.
- Request equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of required items.
- Repairs the following : hardware, floors, ceilings, masonry, roofing, glass, woodwork as needed.
- Transports various items (e.g. tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site.
- Works in school environment and with others well.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Terms of Employment : 8 hours / day 232 days per year
Minimum Qualifications : High School Diploma or GED
