What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paraprofessional-Transition Center position at Gordon County Transition Center?
The job of Paraprofessional is done for the purpose/s of assisting in the achievement of class and individual student objectives by working with individual and/or small groups of students under the supervision of a classroom teacher in the supervision and instruction of students; preparing assigned classroom projects; and providing clerical support to teacher/s.
- Assists online learning teacher with implementing online teaching strategies to help students in meeting objectives and successfully completing online courses
- Motivates online learning students and relates to them in a positive manner
- Assists online teacher in monitoring progress of multiple students in an online setting
- Administers tests, homework assignments, make-up work, etc. for the purpose of supporting teachers in the instructional process.
- Assists in the implementation of instructional programs and lesson plans, under the supervision of a classroom teacher, for the purpose of assisting the teacher in improving students’ academic success through a defined course of study.
- Attends meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.
- Maintains classroom equipment, work area, students files/records (e.g. adapting instructional materials, cleaning work area, taking attendance, checking homework, grading papers, audio visual equipment, bulletin boards, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of items and/or providing reliable information.
- Performs record keeping and general clerical functions (e.g. copying, prepare instructional material, correcting papers, recording attendance, taking and recording phone calls, etc.) for the purpose of supporting the teacher and/or in providing necessary records/materials.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
- Prepares documents as maybe required by teacher (e.g. memos, displays, etc.) for the purpose of providing written documentation and/or conveying information.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Hold an associate’s degree or higher in any subject; or
- Have passed the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment. If eligibility is established through the assessment, the applicant must also hold a minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
Employment Terms: 8 hours/day
186 days/year
