High volume personal injury law firm seeks a Veterans Disability Paralegal, to work full time Monday - Friday 8 : 30 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m. This person must have a PIV Card and VBMS access.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Include the following, as well as other duties which may be assigned by management, at Firm's sole discretion :
- Work with and assist attorneys in providing legal services to clients, including legal research, client communications, writing, and related duties
- Providing professional client service under supervision of attorneys
- This position requires daily repetitive typing & sitting.
- Performing assignments in cooperation with other Firm employees, as required
- Maintain the schedule of assigned attorney, as well as scheduling client appointments, hearings and other meetings
- Daily written and oral communication with veterans and their families, as well as the Department of Veterans Affairs in a timely manner
- Filing, scanning, and copying
- Scheduling depositions, hearings, mediation, etc.
- Drafting legal documents including complaints, discovery, motions and subpoenas
- Responsible for case reviews and preparing file summaries
- Requesting medical records; maintain professional interaction with doctors’ offices
- Train Legal Assistants
- Other duties as assigned
