Job Summary:
This position is responsible for preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates for site development, civil construction, and infrastructure projects. This role involves reviewing project plans, specifications, and local regulations to determine material, labor, and equipment costs to provide a comprehensive estimate for the overall project.
Key Responsibilities:
· Experience performing quantity takeoff from civil construction plans
· Knowledge of and ability to read drawings & specifications
· Review, comprehend, and apply geotechnical & environmental reports
· Identify scope of work and create subcontractor & material suppliers scope packages
· Review subcontractor & material suppliers’ proposals
· Ensure compliance with company standards, evaluate risks, and client requirements
· Ensure estimates are complete, well organized, and ready for review by management
· Understanding and ability to develop project schedules to ensure projects can be completed to meet clients’ requirements
· Address all relevant safety risks and concerns to incorporate in the estimate
· Develop innovative means and methods for completing projects to increase competitiveness and margins
· Maintain base bid documents and keep organized estimate information
· Coordinate with Project Foreman with successful bids to allow a successful transition to executing the contract
· Monitor projects after successful bids to identify changes in scope of work and to identify any bid deficiencies.
· Work with client & Project Foreman to price Change Orders of existing contracts
· Other tasks as necessary may be assigned by management.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
- Proven experience as a site estimator, construction estimator, or in a similar estimating role in civil or site work construction
- Strong understanding of civil construction practices, site work, and infrastructure
- Strong understanding construction estimating software; Construction Link preferred
- Strong understanding of 3D CAD Modeling; Trimble Business Center Preferred
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills for accurate cost estimation
- Knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and industry standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.)
Working Conditions:
- Office-based work with occasional site visits to assess project conditions
- Full-time position with standard working hours, although overtime may be required during busy bidding periods or tight project deadlines
- Collaboration with various teams, including project managers, contractors, and suppliers
