We are seeking an experienced and reliable Earthwork Construction Foreman/Supervisor to lead and coordinate on-site operations for excavation, grading, and general earthmoving activities. Job Duties
- Work closely with the Project Manager to plan, execute and manage the project
- Supervise and coordinate all earthwork activities on the construction site, including excavation, grading, trenching, and compaction
- Read and interpret project plans, blueprints, and specifications to ensure work is performed according to design
- Operate or oversee the operation of tools, machinery and heavy equipment as needed (dozers, excavators, loaders, etc.)
- Allocate and monitor daily responsibilities of crew members and contractors
- Coordinate construction work according to plans and priorities
- Maintain accurate records of daily work activities, crew hours, and site conditions
- Ensure crews are working safely and adhering to all safety protocols
- Monitor expenses and ensure the project stays on budget
- Adapt to and coordinate schedule changes when necessary due to weather, supply, delivery and personnel
- Train and mentor coworkers, providing constructive feedback and correction when necessary
- Resolve conflicts or miscommunications with coworkers and/or vendors quickly and amicably
- Regularly report project status to project manager, site engineers and other officials
- Keep detailed notes and documentation relevant to the job(s) at hand
Skills & Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy civil/earthwork construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of excavation, grading, site prep, and soil compaction techniques
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Proficient in operating heavy equipment and understanding equipment capabilities/limitations
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Strong focus on safety and quality control
- Valid driver’s license; CDL a plus but not required
- OSHA 30 certification preferred
- Ability to drive projects to completion on time and within budget
- Expertise in sourcing and supervising construction materials, such as tools and equipment
- Strong ability to use good judgement and ability to make logical decisions
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
