Teacher Job Description
General Description:
A teacher at Gorman Christian Academy shall prayerfully help students learn attitudes, skills and subject matter that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christians to the praise and glory of
God.
Reports to:
Head of School/Principal
Evaluation:
The Head of School/Principal will evaluate the performance of the Teacher in accordance with Academy policy and this job description.
Personal Qualifications:
- a born-again believer who feels called of God to this profession
- a member in good standing of a church of like faith and practice ot GBC
- a commitment to live in a Christ-like manner.
- a love for children
- physical and mental stamina as well as emotional stability
Professional Qualifications
- have a four year degree and feel God’s calling to teach
- experience as a classroom teacher (preferred)
- be organized, professional, loving, teachable, and dedicated to the profession
- be a Christian role model in attitude, speech and actions toward others
- committed to biblical standards
- ACSI certifiable as a teacher
- an ability to work well with other adults (Faculty, staff, parents, Pastor and School Committee).
- a desire to strive for success.
- strong teaching skills
Assigned Duties
- Reflect the purpose of the school which is to honor Christ in every class and activity.
- Motivate students to accept God's gift of salvation and help them grow in their faith.
- Teach classes as assigned following prescribed scope and sequences.
- Integrate Biblical principles throughout the curriculum and in all activities.
- Keep proper discipline in the classroom.
- Assess the learning of students on a regular basis and provide progress or deficiencies and work with school and home to help students achieve.
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom.
- Use homework effectively for drill, review, enrichment and project work.
- Represent the school and church in a favorable and professional manner
- Maintain a classroom web page and curriculum guides.
- Maintain current ACSI certification standing and keep levels current.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the administration
