Control Panel Wire Person

The Gorman-Rupp Company, headquartered in Mansfield, Ohio, has been designing, manufacturing, and selling pumps and pumping systems for use in water, wastewater, construction, industrial, original equipment, agriculture, fire protection, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning, and other liquid-handling applications for over 90 years. This position is located in Mansfield, Ohio, at our Sixth Avenue facility β Engineered Systems.
Position Summary
Diversified duties involving proper layout, bench assembly of control panels, checking circuits, electrical/electronic control operations and related test floor final wiring installation or connections of completed panel assemblies.
Essential Functions and Basic Duties
Assumes responsibility for mounting and wiring a variety of components.
- Work from work orders, schematics, drawings, specifications, bills of material and other verbal or written information.
- Use as required in performance of duties, continuity checker, multi-meter, and other checking equipment such as common hand tools such as scale, dividers, wire cutters, crimpers, soldering iron, and hydra punch set and lift truck.
- Mount and wire in prescribed manner a variety of components; such as, starters, circuit breakers, relays, programmable control units, push buttons, switches, indicator lights, meters, gauges, sensors and alarm or other related control devices as required.
- Make ordinary continuity, wiring/control operation, voltage or checks in proper manner
Assumes responsibility for final testing of wiring work performed on units.
- Make final test area motor drive, control panel or other similar power connections in prescribed manner prior to test of complete unit by others.
- Exercise care and ensure proper grounding of unit.
- Diagnose, trouble-shoot control devices/circuitry problems.
- Replace defective, inoperative units; correct wiring to ensure proper control panel operations as required or directed due to re-engineering or design/circuitry changes.
- Rewire auto start engine units when required.
Assumes responsibility for miscellaneous duties as required.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of labels, instructions, tags and decals as assigned.
- Assist in any manufacturing area within the company either at ES or the Main Plant or other related department duties as required.
- Operate PC computer when required.
- Prepare all paperwork required for each job.
- Properly account for hours worked on each project.
- Move materials as necessary.
- Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
- Follow all company policies and safety policies.
Education/Certification
High School graduate or equivalent.
Additional related training preferred
Experience Required
- A minimum of one year of related experience working with electrical schematics or symbols OR
- Successful completion of an accredited comprehensive electronics training course.
Required Knowledge
Understanding of basic principles of machine operation.
Understanding of production standards and procedures.
