Staff Accountant – Construction & Real Estate Accounting

This Staff Accountant position is ideal for a detail-oriented, analytical professional looking to grow in construction and real estate accounting. The role focuses on job cost tracking, accounts payable, and financial analysis to support project profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain job cost records by processing accounts payable, reconciling job cost subledgers, and ensuring accurate cost allocations.
- Analyze project profitability, track budget-to-actual costs, and collaborate with project managers to monitor financial performance.
- Assist with financial reporting, including preparing WIP schedules, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and supporting month-end close.
- Ensure contract compliance by verifying financial obligations, managing change orders, and ensuring proper documentation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited university.
- Minimum 3.3 GPA preferred.
- 1-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction, real estate, or a related industry (internship experience counts!).
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles (GAAP) and job cost accounting.
- Experience with accounts payable, job cost tracking, and financial analysis in a project-based setting.
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting software (experience with Sage, QuickBooks, or Procore is a plus).
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
