What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Controls Technician position at Gorton's?
What you’ll do:
This plant-based position is responsible for supporting electrical and controls engineering initiatives.
- Tasks will involve controls program review, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
- Support the engineering group with automation system troubleshooting in concert with other functions such as new equipment installation support and start-up assistance
- Management of all technical automation software.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you’ll need:
Proven record of working safely in a manufacturing environment.
- Engineering Degree, Technical school graduate (or equivalent experience) with electrical and control system experience.
- Proven computer and networking skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of electrical standards.
- Knowledge of power distribution systems in a manufacturing environment.
- Understanding line side and control side schematics
- Strong technical skills (mechanical/electrical).
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.
- Ability and willingness to travel to vendor sites and other Gorton’s facilities, as needed.
Specific Hardware Qualifications:
- Rockwell and Schneider automation products.
- Familiarity with networking hardware.
- PLC, HMI & VFD Programming experience a plus.
Specific Software Qualifications:
- Proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with Rockwell Automation programming software.
- Reading and modifying electrical schematics
- Experience with AutoCAD a plus.
