About the Children's Tutoring Initiative (CTI)
CTI partners with schools, churches, and local organizations to connect trained volunteer tutors with students reading below grade level. Our goal is simple: every child leaves our program with a love for reading and the literacy skills needed for long-term success.
Position Overview
As a Volunteer Engagement Manager, you will play a key role in expanding CTI’s volunteer base, forging partnerships, and ensuring we meet our goal of tutoring 400 students in Central Ohio. You will develop relationships with churches, corporations, and service organizations to recruit dedicated volunteers while training and supporting Volunteer Coordinators to build strong tutoring teams within local schools.
Key Responsibilities
- Volunteer Recruitment & Community Outreach
- Cast the vision of CTI’s impact by engaging with churches, corporations, and service organizations.
- Schedule and lead recruitment presentations to inspire volunteer participation.
- Maintain a pipeline of potential volunteers, ensuring a steady flow of committed tutors.
- Strategic Relationship Building
- Partner with the Executive Director to align recruiting efforts with school needs.
- Develop relationships with key community leaders, faith-based organizations, and corporate partners to expand CTI’s volunteer network.
- Identify and recruit Volunteer Coordinators to lead tutoring sessions at partner schools.
- Volunteer Training & Support
- Train and mentor Volunteer Coordinators in effective recruitment and volunteer management strategies.
- Ensure tutors are matched effectively with students and equipped for success.
- Transition recruited volunteers to the appropriate team for onboarding and scheduling.
- Tracking & Reporting
- Provide weekly reports on recruitment efforts, including outreach activities, key contacts, and volunteer commitments.
- Assess recruitment metrics and adjust outreach strategies as needed.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience in volunteer recruitment, nonprofit outreach, education advocacy, or community engagement.
- Strong public speaking and relationship-building skills, with the ability to inspire volunteerism and community involvement.
- Ability to manage multiple recruitment efforts and partnerships simultaneously.
- Organizational and communication skills to track outreach efforts and recruitment metrics.
- Passion for literacy education and a commitment to ensuring children succeed in reading.
