The following vacancy exists in Goshen Community Schools for the Summer of 2025:
ECSEC
Temporary-Extended School Year Preschool Teacher
The Elkhart County Special Education Cooperative (ECSEC) is made up of the Baugo, Concord, Fairfield, Goshen, Middlebury, and Wa-Nee Community Schools in North Central Indiana located 30 minutes from the University of Notre Dame. Administrative offices are located at 704 West Lincoln Avenue, Goshen, IN 46526.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Appropriate certification as required by the Indiana Department of Education.
- CPR certification required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
- Plans individual and group activities to stimulate growth in language, social, emotional, cognitive, academic and motor skills.
- Observes children to detect signs of ill health or emotional disturbance.
- Facilitates the development of the Individual Educational Program and facilitates amendments as needed.
- Prepares teaching outline in conformance with the IEP’s.
- Trains teaching assistant in specific needs/techniques for individual children.
- Discusses student’s progress with parents and provides quarterly progress notes.
- Provides consultations and direct services for special needs children in the regular preschool setting.
- Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops
- Collaborates with parents and therapists for individual team planning.
- Follow health care plans in collaboration with school nurse as needed.
- Coordinates with transportation/bus drivers as needed.
- Leads classroom activities including circle time, shack time, activity centers, toilet needs, and arrival/dismissal routines.
- Facilitates home/school communication.
- Develops and utilizes classroom curriculum units.
- Maintain confidentiality of students/ families.
- Completes ISTAR-KR assessments in accordance with evaluation timelines.
- Completes necessary paperwork such as summary sheets, transportation forms, etc.
- Helps with Language section for speech and language evaluations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Participate annually in training for Nonviolent Crisis Intervention/Physical Restraint
- Annual Emergency Care Training
QUALITIES DESIRED:

- Ability to communicate effectively with groups of students, parents, and school staff.
- Skills in human relations.
- Ability to plan and organize; good work habits.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety or variables in situations requiring decision making.
- Other qualifications that the Governing Council may require.
DATES:
Week 1 - June 2, 3, 4, 5
Week 2 – June 9, 10, 11, 12
Week 3 – June 16, 17, 18, 19
HOURS: 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.; 48 total hours for teacher for ESY session
SALARY: Summer Teaching Contract/$50.00
