Substitute Teacher

Job Description
We are seeking a passionate Substitute Teacher to join our school! This role fills the "Assistant Teacher" position, when needed, and works cooperatively with the Lead teacher, preparing and maintaining a nurturing learning environment. The Substitute Teacher has experience in working with children, and shows evidence of understanding classroom management.

Responsibilities

• Assisting students and overseeing the class while the Lead Teacher offers presentations with individual children and small groups.
• Redirecting children towards positive classroom engagement during the class time.
• Helping to keep the classroom, supplies, and equipment clean (sanitized and tidy before, during, and after class).
• Helping children with personal health, hygiene, and care (washing hands, basic first aid/care etc.).
• Supporting children with bathroom needs (recognizing if a child may need to use the restroom, getting them to restroom, helping them use the bathroom/change into clean clothes, changing diapers/pull-ups, assisting with potty training support).

Qualifications

• High school diploma. Associates/Bachelors degree preferred.
• Early childhood teaching and caregiving experience.
• Personal and professional qualities that make a good fit with the Goshen Montessori Preschool program including faithful work attendance, honesty, integrity, patience, and a calm demeanor.

Physical Requirements

• Bending and lifting up to 40 lbs.
• Carrying up to 40 lbs.
• Ability to sit down on the floor, on knees, and/or small chairs during school day, as well as get up and down (sitting to standing) multiple times a day.
• Ability to actively follow and monitor children in the classroom and throughout the outdoor classroom (playground) spaces.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour
