Job Description:
Goshen Township is seeking an experienced Planning and Zoning Director to join our team on a part-time basis. This position presents an exceptional opportunity for seasoned professionals aiming to reduce their work hours while still contributing meaningfully to land-use planning and development, or to supplement the career of an experienced planning and zoning professional with an additional part-time role.
Key Responsibilities:
Under the general direction of the Township Administrator, provide oversight, guidance, and training to two zoning inspectors.
Recommend updates to zoning texts and maps to the Zoning Commission and Board of Trustees.
Regularly review and update the Township's Land Use Plan to ensure it meets current and future community needs.
Engage with developers as needed to review and discuss project proposals.
Analyze comprehensive plans and provide project recommendations.
When needed, provide presentations to the Board of Trustees, Zoning Commission, and Board of Zoning Appeals.
General oversight and enhancements for the zoning department.
Focus on strategic land use planning and larger scale projects, with daily permit operations and property maintenance complaints managed by the zoning inspectors.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Land-Use Planning, Public Administration, Community Development, or a related field. However, strong experience in planning and zoning can be considered in lieu of formal education.
Certification: AICP (American Institute of Certified Planners) Certification is highly desirable.
License: Valid driver's license.
Experience: Proven experience in planning and zoning, with a strong understanding of local government operations and planning processes.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting to various boards and commissions.
Ability to work independently and manage projects with minimal supervision.

Compensation:
Salary is negotiable and will be based on qualifications, experience, and frequency of work.
