What are the responsibilities and job description for the Line Cook position at Gospel Rescue Mission Inc?
Responsibilities & Duties
The Line Cooks are responsible for preparing and cooking food in a specific station, cleaning up prep areas, and getting means out on time, ensuring delicious meals that meet dietary needs. They oversee the cooking process from start to finish and determine how much time each step requires.
Kitchen and Food Oversight
- Warmly greet all guests, including, but not limited to, visitors, volunteers, vendors, employees, guests, donors; homeless men, women, and children; community groups, church groups, and public officials
- Establish and build healthy Christ-honoring relationships with guests while maintaining professional boundaries, including guest confidentiality
- Maintain an environment of love, grace, dignity and respect
- Prepare, serve, and cook healthy for breakfast, lunch, and dinner shifts
- Prepares, cooks, and serves meals in timely meals
- Inspect and clean food preparation areas, such as equipment, work surfaces, and serving areas, to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices
- Assure health department standards are being followed
- Assist and oversee assigned volunteers (training, monitoring, evaluating, and general interaction)
- Assist with kitchen cleaning
- Ability and willingness to cover other shifts as needed
- Provide weekly reports as directed
- Attend staff devotions, community meetings, and staff meetings as directed by the Kitchen Manager
- Attend professional training and networking opportunities as directed
- Provide weekly reports as directed
- Perform other duties as assigned

It is the policy of Gospel Rescue Mission to complete a background check, drug test and motor vehicle authorization on applicants in the conditional offer stage.
Employment Status:
- Full-time 40 hours per week non-exempt; eligible for paid time off; eligible for benefits
- Flexible schedule with occasional weekends
