What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recovery Coach position at Gospel Rescue Mission Inc?
The Recovery Coach is responsible for working with the Recovery Team to provide advocacy and facilitate deliverable [program] services. They serve as models for guests in treatment while sharing hope and guidance throughout the program experience. The Recovery Coach is directly involved with providing quality services to our guests in an environment of love, grace, dignity, and respect. A Recovery Coach is someone who has agreed to assist others in their recovery journey and help them avoid relapse.
- Warmly greet all guests, including but not limited to, visitors, volunteers, vendors, staff, guests, donors, community groups, church groups, and public officials.
- Establish and build healthy Christ-honoring relationships with guests, while maintaining the Code of Ethics as it pertains to professional certification [i.e. Pastoral, Coaching, Counseling]. The Transformation Recovery Coach does not focus on clinical work, but must still be capable of responding in professional, ethical ways, including cultural responsiveness and trauma-informed best practices.
- Under the leadership of the Recovery Manager, maintain the Recovery Standard of Excellence and actively participate in the process of upholding this standard among the Recovery Team.
- Comply with the HIPAA Compliance, Privacy and Security Rules, and GRM’s Confidentiality Policy.
- Maintain thorough and timely guest records in cloud-based tracking system; and document any interactions, concerns, or other pertinent information regarding guests.
- Assess guests’ needs for physical, medical, and behavioral intervention, providing resources and guidance as appropriate.
- Maintain a caseload of 15 guests and meet regularly with the guests as scheduled.
- Oversee the Stability Phase, and Healing and Hope Phase.
- Advocate, collaborate with, and refer guests to internal and external agencies as needed.
- Skilled with program processes and utilize those tools in support of guests.
- Create, review, and update service plans with guests at every meeting.
- Pray with, coach, and support the efforts of guests relating to spiritual, personal, and program growth
- Provide one-to-one and group coaching for recovery and relapse prevention.
- Hold guests accountable to program, and Program Guidelines & Protections.
- Facilitate Community Meetings.
- Attend staff meetings, community meetings, team meetings, and other meetings as directed.
- Approve guest passes as appropriate.
- Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution as needed.
- Consult with Recovery Manager and Director of Recovery Program regularly.
- Guide guests to develop a support system.
- Assist guests with transportation as directed.
- Participate in scheduled group outings, service projects, retreats, and other special events.
- Work closely with other departments for community service assignments, bed assignments, discipline, and quality of care feedback.
- Attend guest court hearings as directed.
- Provide written correspondence for guests as needed.
- Assist with breathalyzer and urinalyses as directed.
- Assist with medication process as directed.
- Check and respond promptly to voice mail and email.
- Provide support/coverage in the event of staff absence, as directed.
- Teach classes and facilitate Process Groups as directed.
- Facilitate room checks, bag checks, and personal property checks.
- Attend professional training and networking opportunities as directed.
- Attend staff meetings or other meetings as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
