Summary :

The Director of Market Research will lead all market research, competitive intelligence, advanced analytics, and forecasting activities for Gossamer Bio. Reporting to the Head of Commercial Strategy and Operations, the Director will play a key role in a growing Commercial team and will be responsible for delivering unbiased, objective, and in-depth insights to guide brand strategy and execution.

This position is fast-paced, dynamic, and highly collaborative. The ideal candidate is a visionary leader with a passion for leveraging innovation in data sciences and the ability to effectively communicate complex, evolving information in fresh and impactful ways.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Market Research

  • Develop the organization's market insights and data acquisition strategy to support product development and brand strategy
  • Define brand research roadmap and analytic plan to deliver insight-based recommendations aligned with the brand's business goals and priorities
  • Drive execution of all primary and secondary market research, forecasting, competitive intelligence, and advanced analytics
  • Lead with a strong understanding of all types of primary market research techniques, both qualitative and quantitative, to fulfill organizational insights needs
  • Identify implications and develop presentations with clear story lines, integrating new data with existing knowledge; present insights to senior leadership, translating complex data into clear, actionable recommendations that influence and shape brand strategy
  • Advocates for a data-driven culture by demonstrating the strategic value of data and insights to all stakeholders
  • Conduct ongoing brand performance tracking, including pre- and post-launch assessments, to ensure that the brand strategy remains aligned with market dynamics and evolving customer needs.
  • Experienced with secondary data sources (e.g. patient claims, EMR, sales, payer information) to triangulate with market research insights
  • Work with cross-functional leaders and stakeholders from a wide variety of functions, such as Brand / Marketing Team, Medical Affairs, as well as other leaders in Commercial, to understand strategic issues.
  • Drive strategic thinking and serve as a market insights leader to the Commercial stakeholders by answering key business questions to define commercial strategies and tactics and drive investment decisions.
  • Quantitative market research to assess potential product market shares given current and future market dynamics.
  • Use of syndicated databases to assess market size, treatment patterns, and competitive landscape.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10 years in analytic and / or market research consulting roles including 5 in life sciences
  • Prior knowledge and experience in Pulmonary Hypertension is a plus
  • Preferably advanced degree in Business, Life Sciences, Market Research or related field
  • Experienced in both quantitative and qualitative market research
  • Proficiency in advanced research tools, analytics platforms and including emerging technologies
  • Demonstrated analytical capabilities and critical thinking skills
  • Understanding of drug pharmaceutical development and commercialization process, as well as industry competitive dynamics
  • Successful track record in effectively managing multiple competing priorities under ambiguity and uncertainty
  • Strong project, budget and vendor management skills; ability to assess and direct vendor technical capabilities and manage risks in the analytic process
  • Demonstrated success defining business information and insight needs and translating those to specific deliverables; understanding of biopharmaceutical commercial market data sources.
  • Strong understanding of legal and regulatory environment in pharmaceutical promotions, and pharma industry guidelines
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Hybrid office environment based in San Diego, CA or Remote

    The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location in California is $190,000 to $250,000 . Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographical location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. This position also qualifies for the benefits as listed below :
