Title: Sr Network Engineer
Duration: FTE/Permanent
Location: Hybrid in NYC
Salary: 140-160k DOE
Under the supervision of the Network Manager, the Senior Network Engineer will play a key role in designing, implementing, maintaining, upgrading, and securing the global network infrastructure (voice, data, and wireless). This individual will work closely with vendors and technology partners to establish network standards, optimize performance, and ensure security across the enterprise. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in WAN/LAN routing protocols, Cisco networking, and cloud-based networking solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Design, Implementation & Maintenance
- Design, implement, and manage enterprise data, voice, and video networks, including Cisco routing, switching, wireless, SD-WAN, and VPNs (S2S, DMVPN).
- Establish and maintain network standards in collaboration with the Network Manager and vendors.
- Manage WAN technologies (MPLS, SD-WAN, EPL, T1) and advanced routing using BGP, EIGRP, and Cisco OMP.
- Design and troubleshoot Cisco wireless networks and Cisco ISE security policies.
- Ensure scalable, reliable, and secure network connections between data centers, regional offices, and cloud providers.
Operational Support & Performance Optimization
- Provide operational support and troubleshooting for data networking and VoIP environments, including occasional evening and weekend work.
- Monitor network performance metrics (availability, utilization, latency) using diagnostic tools to ensure peak efficiency.
- Optimize Quality of Service (QoS) for both campus and WAN networks.
- Perform routine upgrades of network hardware and software, following change management processes.
- Coordinate with vendors and IT teams to resolve network faults, manage vendor performance, and escalate issues as necessary.
Security & Compliance
- Implement security best practices for network infrastructure, including Palo Alto Next-Gen Firewalls.
- Manage remote access solutions including Cisco SD-WAN, IPSec/SSL VPN, DMVPN, AAA, and RADIUS.
- Ensure compliance with industry security standards and best practices.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 8-10 years of experience with Cisco routers (ASRs) and switches (Nexus 9k, 9300s, 9500s stacks).
- Strong expertise in BGP and EIGRP for dynamic routing.
- Working knowledge of Cloud On-Ramps and Cloud Networking (preferably Azure).
- Experience with Palo Alto Next-Gen Firewalls.
- Proficiency in Cisco SD-WAN, IPSec/SSL VPN, DMVPN, AAA, and RADIUS.
- Experience with networking protocols (DNS, DHCP, SMTP, SNMP, NTP).
- Strong knowledge of Quality of Service (QoS) principles for campus and WAN environments.
- Experience with Cisco Unified Communications Suite and Zoom Telephone Systems.
- Understanding of SIP, H.323, G.729, G.711, and QoS principles.
- Hands-on experience with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, ScienceLogic.
- Strong problem-solving skills, self-starter attitude, and ability to work independently.
- Exceptional communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work across teams and vendors.
Certifications:
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) - Required
- Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) - Preferred
